A Practical Approach To Children's Orthodontics
As your child grows and develops, orthodontic issues could be developing too. Children should visit the orthodontist for an assessment so that any issues can be identified and treated.
We take a conservative approach to orthodontics for children, based primarily on monitoring growth and development. We'll only intervene when strictly necessary, usually in cases where the child has a narrow upper jaw, a crossbite, or when adult teeth are being blocked from growing into position properly.
Early orthodontic evaluation and treatment can help address many of the common oral problems that children face as they grow up – including speech and eating issues, snoring, teeth grinding, thumb sucking, and more.
At Shuswap Orthodontics, we offer jaw growth guidance with palatal expanders, as well as smiles bars, Invisalign First clear aligners and traditional braces for our young patients.
Free Consultations & Monitoring for Children
Children should visit the orthodontist for the first time around the age of seven for an orthodontic consultation. This visit will give us an opportunity to to determine if any orthodontic treatment is needed.
If it is, we'll commence with a treatment plan. If not, we offer free assessment appointments every six to 12 months until your child is ready for comprehensive orthodontic care.
